It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that all relevant information regarding their child’s health is given to the Head Teacher or School Office at the earliest opportunity.

Parents/Carers of children who require long term prescribed medication should supply the school with medicines and replenish as required, collecting out of date or surplus medicines at the end of the academic year. Medication will be stored and administered following the procedures stipulated by the City of Edinburgh Council.

If you wish to request the school issues medication to your child, please complete the relevant form from the school office and return it to the school office. Please note medication can only be administered if the necessary paperwork is completed.

If your child has a medical condition, it is very important that you inform the school and that an appropriate health care plan is drawn up and distributed to relevant staff in school who will know how to care for your child. At Taobh na Pàirce parents should contact Mrs Walker, our school administrator in the first instance.

We can administer long-term and short-term medication at school providing parents have filled in the consent and instruction forms. We are also able to administer nonprescribed medication, such as Calpol if an appropriate form is completed and the medication is in its original container. All forms are available from the Council website.

Mrs Sirin Bryson, Pupil Support Assistant, has responsibility for healthcare at Taobh na Pàirce and will happy to support with any enquiries parents may have. Email us with any queries.
