Absence
Absence line
0131 553 5856, Option 1
Parents and carers should leave a voice message on our absence line before 9 a.m. on the day of your child’s unplanned absence (e.g. sickness bug), providing the child’s full name and class and the reason for absence.
You should update the school on each day of your child’s absence, confirming the reason for their absence. Unexplained absence will be recorded as unauthorised.
Planned absence
Let the school know by email if it is a planned absence (e.g. hospital appointment).
Leave for religious, cultural, or care reasons
Parents and carers may request that their children be permitted to be absent from school to celebrate recognised religious events. Absence approved on this basis is regarded as authorised absence. Extended leave can also be granted on request for families returning to their country of origin for cultural or care reasons.
